3 steps in the process of forming a great IDEA

Down to the final push to the finish line, and can I just say how grateful I am? Grateful because I am working with a brilliant team of educators, and am confident that we *together* are going to design and deliver an amazing school! Grateful because, well, I have this opportunity in the first place to learn so much about creating and sustaining successful schools! And last, but by far from the least significant of these things that I am grateful for, IT'S ALMOST OVER!!! Yes, that's right, in just two short weeks away, I will be reunited with loved ones, and whisked away for a blissful week of reunion and relaxation on the beach! Ahhhh...But for now, work, work, work...and a tiny bit of fun! STEP 1: The process of forming a great IDEA begins with excellent collaborators, whom you respect and appreciate. AND an incentive (beach side vacation) is always helpful motivation.
Aside from gratitude and day dreaming of what's to come, this week flew by with a few marvelous distractions! Tuesday, I did the Mt. Everest climbing expedition simulation http://forio.com/simulation/harvard-everest/public_main.htm with my new school design team. During which, I got to play the part of "Dr. Wray-Kirk, a world renown physician and researcher!" And though I had to be rescued before reaching the summit, and my team failed miserably at the task (No really, the lowest score in the class, 11%...Ouch!), we may not have been the winners on Mt. Everest, but we sure had fun losing! STEP 2: The process of forming a great IDEA requires one to have a sense of humor and always a good time, no matter how big the mountain is, or what the score card says!

Thursday, my buddy and I met my cousin Jill and her friends for delicious margaritas, tequila and tacos at the Mercadito Grove in the West Village http://www.mercaditony.com/index2.htm. My cousin Jill (red top, far right in the picture) is hilarious & FABULOUS. Her friends too, were the perfect distraction away from school entertaining with not so glamorous sex in they city stories! Oh to be young, blond and gorgeous...You go girls!!! BTW, the other two girls in the picture are not who we met that night, but you get the IDEA.
Last night was spent with my new school design team member, Sara, developing curriculum...I know, an exciting Friday night in NYC right?! Actually, being the nerd I am, I loved it! We did manage to get out for just a bit of *HOT* NYC nightlife having dinner at 'Spice' in Chelsea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-QVQLbwtHA&feature=related and a round trip subway ride! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVeqNuHcb-I Step 3: The process of forming a great IDEA requires different perspectives, enjoyable work, risk taking and well, a great IMAGINATION!
